Sierras

The Sierras is my backyard.  Taking a drive up Highway 395 always brings something new to see and explore.  From the Alabama Hills just below Mt Whitney to the 5000 year old Bristlecone pine to Mammoth and Mono Lake, there is so much to see.  This was one of Ansel's most favorite areas to shoot.  Some of his most famous images were shot along 395.  I once spent a week shooting in this area on a workshop with David Muench spending hours in the car with him picking his brain on everything from locations he loves shooting at to how his dad got him started in photography.  It was a very special week soaking up as much information as I could from one of the masters.  (click image to see full screen)
